About us

NICTA’s Empirical Software Engineering research program (ESE) is the hub of Australian research in this area and is the primary link to other leading empirical research programs internationally.  Study opportunities within ESE are offered  through relationship with local partner universities such as School of Computer Science and EngineeringUniversity of New South Wales (UNSW).

While ESE's educational activities are focused on PhD level students, opportunities exist for various levels of engagement with a wide variety of students. These include:
• Short term research projects for undergraduate students at CSE UNSW, USyd and other universities which allow students to be supervised by external supervisors.
• Short term research projects embedded in undergraduate coursework programs
• Intensive courses for graduates in industry

All research is also related to the NICTA ArMaTure project.

About NICTA and UNSW

NICTA is Australia's ICT research center of Excellence. NICTA was formed by the Federal Government's Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts and the Australian Research Council. NICTA's  consortium partners are the Australian Capital Territory Government, the New South Wales Government, the University of New South Wales, and the Australian National University. NICTA's Sydney facilities have agreements with the University of New South Wales (UNSW) regarding collaboration in the research training of PhD students in ICT areas.
